Chapter 16
Cynthia had barely stepped outside when she collided headfirst into someone. "I'm so sorry."
"Cynthia. It's been a long time."
That familiar voice stopped her in her tracks. Her breath caught.
She slowly looked up, only to be met with a face she hadn't seen in months—one she thought she'd left behind. Instinctively, she stepped back, a trace of wariness in her eyes.
Oliver gave a bitter smile. "Are you really that unwelcoming now?"
Then, his gaze dropped—and he froze. She was wearing a wedding dress.
"Why are you… in a wedding gown?" A chill ran down his spine as his thoughts spiraled into panic. No, it couldn't be.
He shook his head, trying to rid himself of the looming dread curling in his gut.
With eyes dark with disbelief, he stared at her beautiful face and murmured, "Cynthia, I finally found you. Please… give me another chance. I know I messed up, but I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to you—"
"No," came a voice that wasn't hers. A tall figure stepped in
