Chapter 411
The sudden noise outside made Hanson freeze for a second. His entire vibe shifted instantly—gone was the usual lazy air, replaced by an icy alertness.
He turned slightly, shooting a glance at Claire. She was still chewing slowly, hair sticking out messily, big dark eyes blinking up at him with a face full of fake innocence.
Hanson didn't bother checking what the noise was. Instead, he reached out, snatched the bowl and fork out of her hands, and tossed them aside like they were trash.
"Hey, I wasn't done eating!"
Claire protested, but the moment she leaned forward, he shoved her back down hard into the chair.
"Shut it. One more sound out of you, and you'll be limping out of here—or not walking at all. Don't make me prove it."
His voice was low and threatening. He bent down, grabbed the rope he'd used earlier, and this time tied her wrists in front of her instead of behind—slightly better, but still tight.
Watching his practiced movements, Claire's mind was spinning. What was he up to?
