“No… no, I didn’t…” The villager flinched under that sharp stare, voice trembling as he stammered out an excuse. Hanson Bentley gave a low hum, clearly satisfied for now. “Alright then, if there's no problem… I’ll head back?” The man nodded quickly, still looking dazed from the earlier scare, about to wander off in a daze when he suddenly paused and turned back to shout just as Hanson was about to close the door. “Oh right! You guys moving out, huh? Just letting you know, no refunds on the rent!” Hanson didn’t reply. The man puffed up his chest, looking back defiantly. “It’s all written in the agreement, crystal clear! No way we’re giving that money back.” The courtyard had technically been rented out by his wife. He’d complained at first that ten grand a year was too cheap.
