Recognizing who it was, Nelson's brows tightened slightly. "Come in."
Serena didn't hesitate. Given the green light, she stepped right in. "What're you two chatting about?"
Dominic didn't even look at her. He rubbed his nose, eyes still on Nelson. "I'm taking off. Doesn't look like you need me for anything anyway."
He never had much of a liking for this "late arrival" Serena. Back when they were kids, it was Claire he used to hang out with. Serena popped back into the picture after being found by the Thompsons, and by then he'd already moved abroad. Truth be told, they were basically strangers.
Plus, he wasn't sure how much she overheard in there just now.
She hadn't said anything, sure—but that didn't stop him from feeling a bit guilty, like she'd secretly been eavesdropping on some trash talk.
Nelson didn't stop him either. "Don't forget what I asked you to handle."
"Got it, it's all good."
Dominic waved lazily as he brushed past Serena without so much as a glance her way.
