Elena didn't expect Nelson to agree so easily. She was momentarily stunned on the other end of the phone. "Mom, what did he say?" Serena looked at her mother with anxious eyes, nervous that she might hear another letdown. Elena double-checked Nelson's message, then let out a breath and smiled widely. "It's done! Nelson said he'll be here soon. Don't forget what I taught you—act pitiful. Guys can't resist that." Serena gave a soft nod, finally able to breathe a little. She lowered her head, sounding meek. "Okay, Mom. I get it. I'll listen to you from now on… no more doing things on my own." As long as Nelson was coming, she still had a shot.
