Chapter 5 Time To Go

Leopold helped Audrey make the announcement. ''This is a token to emphasize how sorry my sister, Audrey, is concerning what happened yesterday to Elizabeth's face. I hope all these gifts will go a long way in ensuring peace reigns among us. Also, my sister, Audrey, wishes everybody a favourable test season in the upcoming week, and she hopes that as many of us can afford to secure straight A's will do so'' he announced to a dumbfounded class. The students were stunned. They exchanged confused looks among themselves while some of them could not take their eyes off the number of gifts that Audrey had bought for Elizabeth. After all, Audrey was originally a product of an international school, so she could afford much more than the local students at Bullen City School could ever imagine. Leopold waited for a while for what he said to sink in, and then seeing the positive reaction of the class, he became even more excited. ''Audrey Turnah also wishes to state that what happened yesterday between her and Jerry Dank, was nothing but a vile joke. After all, she cannot be caught having an interest in every Tom, Dick, Harry, and their pets,'' Leopold said. From what he said, he expected that Jerry Dank would be mad and then start an angry reaction. After all, when he said this last statement of his, the entire class echoed in oohs and ah's because he said piercing words that were meant to be Jerry down by all means. Leopold looked at Jerry Dank, who maintained a clear focus on the book in front of him, without an expression on his face. Jerry completely ignored what was going on right in front of him, as if he was not even in the class. Meanwhile, everything was happening only inches away from him. Leopold was angry. Jerry's arrogance was too much for him to bear, to the extent that Leopold wondered who the hell the boy thought he was. ''How on Earth did my sister consider this fool worth any of her attention?'' Leopold asked himself while he detested Jerry secretly. He glared at Jerry, wishing that the boy would raise his head to see how much Leopold hated him, but Jerry didn't budge. ''Okay, that's all for now. I wish everyone good luck,'' Leopold suddenly addressed the class again and took a bow. When Leopold was done, he whispered to Audrey. ''In the future, we might go our separate ways, but do not have anything to do with Jerry for any reason. Even if he offers himself,'' Leopold warned her. As soon as Leopold was done with his speech, the class went nuts. ''Dude, what the hell is going on?'' Collins Date, Jerry's friend hurried towards him to ask. Jerry was indifferent. It didn't matter to him what Audrey and Leopold were up to, and it showed. ''I heard that Audrey and Leopold are from an international school. Maybe they would go back to their school now. After all, an international school and Bullen School are like luxury and poverty respectively,'' Collins told Jerry when Jerry refused to answer his first speculation. Jerry heaved an annoyed sigh and said abruptly to Collins. ''I don't know.'' ''You people want to drop out?'' The principal yelped at Audrey and Leopold in his office. ''Yes,'' Audrey replied with a gentle tone. Everyone knew that Audrey and Leopold had come from a school abroad, and the school's authority considered their presence in their school an honour, but now the students said they were leaving. There was no need to stay in Bullen City School anymore because the reason that Audrey switched schools in the first place, had become null and void. When the principal made his enquiries, he realized that the reason for Audrey deciding to leave Bullen City School was personal. The process for the students to leave the school was done quickly, and then Audrey and Leopold were dismissed from the principal's office. ''Can we go now?'' Leopold asked Audrey while they waited in the corridor of the principal's office, for the rain that suddenly started falling, to subside. Leopold could not wait to leave that damn school. If it were not because of Audrey, in the first place, he would have no business being there. ''Yes, we can,'' Audrey said with a smile, while she brought out an umbrella from her school bag. Before she knew what was happening, Elizabeth Coker hurried downstairs and started to run into the rain like that. Without an umbrella. ''Elizabeth,'' Audrey yelled at the girl in surprise. Elizabeth turned around to see Audrey and was stunned that Audrey talked to her. ''It's raining, what are you doing? Why are you without an umbrella?'' She asked Elizabeth. ''Come and share this with us'', Audrey cajoled her now, a former classmate. ''Don't worry about it. I'm fine,'' Elizabeth replied, declining Audrey's offer. ''You are out of your mind, you want to go under the rain? Can't you see that it's raining cats and dogs? How is your face? I am sorry about yesterday, okay?'' Audrey told Elizabeth. ''It's fine. It's just a skin injury. It will heal in no time,'' Elizabeth replied. ''I have to go now,'' she added. ''If she says for you to join us under the umbrella, then you should join us,'' an irritated Leopold told Elizabeth. Suddenly, footsteps were approaching them from upstairs, and Elizabeth quickly grabbed the umbrella from Audrey, while Leopold let go of her wrist from when he was forcing her to accept Audrey's offer. Unknown to them, onlookers were watching the drama that was going on between the trio, and Jerry had come down to take a look. ''Are you okay?'' Jerry asked Elizabeth when he saw that her wrist was red. Audrey was surprised at the way Jerry was reacting. Did he think that she was bullying Elizabeth? That sort of behaviour was far from her, and Jerry knew it. Why would he dare to think in that direction? Audrey wondered.
