Chapter 834 You Remind Me Of That “Little Girl”
Sotiria stopped and stared absentmindedly at Zachary’s devastatingly handsome face.
“How much do you love Charlotte Simmons?”
Zachary felt as if a knife had sliced through his heart when he heard that name. However, he was used to concealing his feelings, so he simply frowned.
“How is that related to our relationship?”
“It is.”
Every time Zachary surveyed her with his vast yet cold eyes, Sotiria couldn’t help feeling her heart pounding against her chest. She had to force herself to steady her breathing in order to avoid looking too nervous.
“I may not know the details of the grudge between you and Garrison, but I know that your vengeance against him stems from Charlotte Simmons. You’re the noblest figure in Rothesay. Celebrities and starlets are lining up to give themselves to you, and you’ve ignored all of them. Yet you’ve approached me just to have vengeance against Garrison. You’ve hugged me, kissed me, and you’ve even pushed me on the sofa and… Cough!”
Sotiria’s face flared up at this point. She shrugged, deliberately acting calm.
“You said so yourself at Rena’s house, you’ve had me investigated, so you know what kind of woman I am. Since you’re mysophobic against women, you must have felt disgusted when you were near me, hugged me, or kissed me. I’m just wondering, how much do you love Charlotte Simmons that you’d be willing to go against your will, lay down your dignity, and seduce me, just to take revenge against Garrison?”
Zachary’s inky, dark eyes flashed with a weird glint. Then, he raised his brow teasingly.
“Would you believe it if I told you reminded me of that little girl?”
“Hah!”
Sotiria felt as if she had heard the world’s biggest joke.
“I’m not stupid enough to have such a lack of self-knowledge. A woman who’d make you so madly in love with her wouldn’t simply have outstanding, gorgeous good looks. Her heart must be clean and pure. And I… Hehe… I have nothing on par with her.”
Zachary opened his perfectly shaped lips ever so slightly but could not seem to say another word.
‘It’s true! Even though Charlotte betrayed me before, she still seems pure and unblemished to me. She’s taken the most important position in my heart. Ever since she left, every time I think of her or hear someone mentioning her name, I’ll feel as if a hold has been carved into my heart. I’ll be filled with longing and sadness. Even I, a regal, kingly man, feel suffocated.’
“I knew it! I was right!”
Sotiria took a deep breath and tried her best to curve the corners of her lips.
“Well then, Mr. Connor, I’d like to tell you that no matter how badly I’ve behaved in my personal affairs in the past, I want to turn over a new leaf now. I will be completely loyal to my fiance. I’ll never agree to become your lover, no matter how much you threaten me. Give up.”
She began to walk once she finished her piece and hurriedly walked past Zachary.
As soon as she left his field of vision, she could no longer contain it anymore. Her face was filled with disappointment.
‘Little girl! It’s perfectly understandable that Zachary would use such an intimate nickname for his beloved late wife. He loved her very much, after all. But why did I feel such intense jealousy when he said those words?’
At the same time, she vaguely remembered that a man had once called her by this same warm and loving nickname before she lost her memories…
‘Wait! I think I remember. That man who once called me by that name was just as regal and impressive as Zachary. He had an intimidating aura too. His eyes were as dazzling as crystals. When they emitted warmth, they seemed like they could melt every glacier in the world…’
“Argh!”
Sotiria felt a piercing pain and let out a low groan.
This was the first time her head had hurt so much after losing her memories.
The doctor had said that it was like her memories were in a locked box. Once she had received a certain stimulation, her head would hurt. The more it hurt, the more it meant that the box full of her memories was even closer to her…
However, before this box could be unlocked, she could not try too hard to remember, or she would be at risk of cerebral palsy.
She could not continue trying to remember anymore.
“Where are you going next?” Zachary’s clear and cold voice was like a musical instrument from the peak of an ice mountain.
