Chapter 853 I Like Challenging The Impossible

“Yes.” Zachary’s thin, tempting lips moved. “Then we have nothing to talk about!” Sotiria felt as if a knife had gone through her heart. She was in such agony that even her breath was shaking. “Goodbye, Mr. Connor!” “No! I hope we’ll never meet again!” At that moment, a cab happened to drive past. She raised her hand and stopped it, then quickly walked toward the cab. Zachary, whose brows were dark and shapely, crossed his arms. He stared at her enigmatically. “Every time you talk about Garrison, you always say things like ‘I don’t want to let him down’ or ‘I don’t want to betray him’, but I’ve never heard you mention that you love him.” Sotiria paused in her tracks. Then, she lifted her face proudly. “That’s because I’m not an affectionate person. I don’t like talking about love all the time. Since you want to know so much, I’ll tell you, Mr. Connor. I love him. He’s just as important to me as Naomi. No other man, regardless of how outstanding he is, would ever replace him in my heart.” “Oh?” A prickling pain stabbed Zachary’s heart. However, he seemed indifferent, cold, and unaffected on the surface. “What a coincidence. Challenging the impossible is what I like to do the most.” Sotiria’s body wavered. At that moment, the cab reached her side. She hastily opened the car door and quickly slipped in. She put her cold, distant exterior away as soon as she entered the vehicle. Her body felt like a pile of mud as she slumped onto the car seat. “Where to?” the driver asked. “Emerald Garden,” Sotiria replied weakly. “Okay.” The driver turned the steering wheel and pointed to the side of the road. “I noticed a lot of people pointing at you and whispering on my way over. The look in their eyes seemed weird. May I ask what happened?” Sotiria glanced at the side of the road. The corners of her lips lifted awkwardly. “Maybe they just like being nosy. As for the topic of their discussion, I don’t know what it was.” The driver glanced skeptically at Sotiria. He noticed the gloomy expression on her face and was too afraid to ask any more questions. Sotiria stared in a daze out of the car window. ‘See? Zachary completely destroyed my reputation today.’ In less than a few days, rumors like “Sotiria made out with a wild man in the shopping mall”, “Sotiria is still the very same delinquent”, and “That snake Sotiria is still seducing men in public despite being engaged to Garrison” would be whispered around people who knew her, and she would become a laughing stock once again, just as she was four years ago. Zachary, however, always kept his word. He would not let her go until she belonged to him. This time, Zachary had given her flowers in public, pushed her against the wall, and kissed her. That was enough to leave her feeling lost. Next time, Zachary would do something even crazier, and she didn’t have the nerve to even think about it. The cab with Sotiria had already driven off into the distance, but Zachary remained standing at the side of the road, watching the vehicle as it drove away and staring into space. “Anyone acquainted with you would know that you’re not a romantic man. You never gave me flowers when we were together. You never voluntarily pursued Carlie either, even when you were together.” That clear, musical voice drew closer and closer behind Zachary. Zachary did not turn around to look at the woman. Instead, he answered in a steady tone. “If you have something to say, say it. There’s no need to beat around the bush.”
