Chapter 412
The dim twilight was spreading across the sky as Michael and his chief bodyguard Sheng lured the gang of thugs deep into the dense mountain forest.
The fading sunlight cast long shadows through the trees, and among those trees stood a figure—poised like a hunter waiting in ambush.
“Be careful, Mr. Carter,” Sheng warned in a low voice, every sense alert to ensure Michael’s safety. At thirty-five, Sheng was on edge, not allowing himself a single moment of distraction.
Michael responded with a slight nod. When he checked his magazine, he found only one bullet left. Without a trace of hesitation, he calmly slid it back in. Sheng immediately extended his own magazine. “Mr. Carter, I still have four rounds left. Please, take them.”
“No need. Keep them for yourself,” Michael replied with a subtle shake of his head.
