Aria was startled to see Angela sitting on the floor, her face deathly pale as if on the verge of fainting. She instinctively covered her mouth with her hand. "What… what’s wrong with you?"
Angela lifted her head, her eyes red-rimmed as she stared at Aria. "Is that girl really named Annie?"
Aria scoffed in irritation. "Why would I lie to you?"
Having said her piece, Aria had no intention of stirring further trouble. If anything happened to Angela, Richard would never let her off the hook. She figured she had already vented her anger—Angela was clearly suffering, and that was revenge enough.
Not wanting outsiders to see Angela’s ghostly pallor as she sat slumped on the floor, Aria spitefully shut the door behind her before leaving.
