Chapter 14
Cameron froze. "That's impossible. My wife and I never divorced."
The officer looked at him with disdain. "But our records show you finalized your divorce five days ago. It was even personally approved by a superior. Now you're here looking for your ex-wife. Having regrets? Are you planning to do something to her?"
The officer waved Cameron away dismissively. "I've seen plenty of scumbags like you. Refusing and regretting to divorce afterward."
Cameron stumbled backward. "This can't be. This is absolutely impossible. I never signed any divorce papers. How could I possibly be divorced from Margot? Your records must be wrong!"
Cameron shouted, losing control. The officer had no patience for it, and he pointed toward the southeast. "Follow this road about two miles to the courthouse. If you have complaints, go ask them."
Cameron glanced in the direction of the courthouse and ran there without stopping. When he reached the courthouse entrance, a stabbing pain suddenly seized his heart
