Cassandra walked to the nearby bus stop and hailed a cab to take her back to the villa. She remained in low spirits throughout the entire ride home.
It was entirely possible that Peter would never want to see her again, and she had no one to blame but herself.
Once she had composed herself, Cassandra pulled out her phone and saw six missed calls—all from Evelyn. She hadn't heard a single one; her phone had been set to silent mode.
She immediately returned Evelyn's call, and Evelyn picked up in just a second.
"Are you okay, Cass? Did that bitch Gretchen hit you? You have to fight back, got it? If you can't win, just scream as loud as you can and roll around on the floor. That way, someone will call the police and get her arrested!"
