Gregory sped back to the Hart residence, his blazer tossed carelessly in the backseat. His personal phone, tucked in the pocket, buzzed in vain—its vibrations lost to the hum of the engine.
The moment he stepped through the front door, he spotted Steven on the couch. His father's expression was as dark as coal, a cigar clenched between his fingers. The ashtray before him overflowed with gray remnants, a testament to his simmering rage.
Steven's expression darkened with every word Caleb Otterman spoke over the phone. "The contract is ready, Mr. Otterman! What are you playing at, pulling your funding and going back on your word now?"
