Cressida turned Luther down without a second thought.
Luther sneered, seemingly having anticipated her reaction. "Don't tell me no. My grandma is in poor health and can't handle emotional stress. You should know this better than me.
"You'd better play your part as Mrs. Strudwick tonight. Don't make me remind you again."
"Why should I listen to you?" Cressida questioned.
"Because you still want a divorce, and because your maternal grandma still needs money for treatment."
Luther had accurately and ruthlessly targeted her biggest weakness.
He continued, "If you cooperate with me and play your role properly this last time, Cressida, I'll sign that divorce agreement. But if you dare mess this up, not only will I not sign it, your grandma won't receive a single extra penny in her account.
"You should know that I'm capable of doing exactly that."
He was making a direct threat.
