Before Marcus could grab hold of Natalie, a doctor hurried over and said, "Mr. Marcus, Mr. Charles wants to speak with you."
The doctor's tone was respectful yet cautious. He didn't even dare to meet Marcus' eyes when he spoke.
Marcus steadied himself and stepped into the examination room. "Grandpa," he called.
"Marcus." Charles reached out, holding Marcus' hand firmly. "Take me home. I don't want to stay in the hospital. Take me home."
"Grandpa, you have to stay for treatment." Marcus suppressed the sadness inside of him. "Let's not care about what Yvette said."
"Marcus, you were raised by me, so you should know me well enough. Just do this for me, okay?" Charles' eyes reddened. He didn't want to shed tears in front of others.
He tightened his fingers around Marcus' hand before saying, "Marcus, there are things I don't want to say here. Take me home. I know my body best. Just listen to me, alright?"
