Chapter 12 If She Leaves the House No One Cares
Kaia looked calmly at Wendy. She hadn't even done anything, yet Wendy flinched as if frightened. Her body trembled as she stepped backward with a pale face.
"Kaia, please don't look at me with such hatred. It frightens me."
Benedict shoved Kaia away angrily, roaring. "What are you trying to do to Wendy?"
Staggering from the push, she stumbled backward, her body hitting the railing. She nearly fell from the second floor, but no one seemed to care.
Benedict and Amethyst both shielded Wendy. Their expressions were wary as they glared at Kaia.
Samuel opened his mouth, ready to scold her. But the words died on his lips as he remembered the abuse she had endured in prison. The harsh reprimand he wanted to deliver suddenly felt impossible to voice.
Kaia's expression remained cold, but the faint upward curve of her lips betrayed her mockery. So this was her family.
Wendy only had to show the slightest hint of being wronged. Kaia would immediately become the target of their coll
