Chapter 5

I rose to my feet and turned to look at him numbly. "What are you doing here on your wedding night, Mr. Carter?" "Bold of you to ask me that." William's mouth kicked into a sneer. "Sophie and I were supposed to have the perfect wedding, but you ruined it. She's been crying about it ever since. Don't you think it's only right that you go back and apologize to her?" I nodded with little to no hesitation. "Alright." Brushing past him, I walked ahead and left the cemetery. William seemed to want to turn back and get a proper look at the tombstone, but it was too dark for him to make out the picture and name on the stone. He could vaguely tell that the person in the picture was a man, if the man's buzz cut was any indication. For some reason, his chest tightened with a dull ache. He figured that the person lying in that grave must be my family if I'd cried my eyes out like that. Perhaps the man was my father or an older brother. Suddenly, William realized he didn't know me well at all
