When Laura thanked him, Noah had only given a slight nod. His expression behind those sleek glasses remained unreadable.
He had an aloof presence that made it hard to approach him, and the two silent bodyguards flanking him only added to his intimidating bearing. Their presence made Laura instinctively keep quiet.
When the landing indicator lit up, Laura stood, only to find the bodyguards already at her luggage. With swift and practiced movements, they retrieved her suitcase and placed it in front of her with professional courtesy.
Noah was leaning against the cabin door, casually fiddling with the dial of his watch. Laura watched as his silhouette disappeared down the jet bridge.
Something about that moment softened her view of him.
She remembered hearing he had moved overseas, but she hadn't expected to ever run into him again. The most she had seen of him was in the occasional business article.
