Chapter 10 Accident

I smiled and patted Wendy on the back. "Okay, stop crying. Do I look like I'm suffering?" Wendy let me go and turned to wipe her tears. "I'll go pour the water away!" Wendy was truly adorable. She treated me with sincerity too. How could I possibly drag her down with me? I walked over to the dressing table and sat down. I put on some makeup under my eyes just like Diana does. Alright! It was all covered up! When Wendy returned, I asked, "I’m going to Houghton. Are you going to come with me?" She replied without any hesitation, "Yes!" I smiled at her. "I thought you wouldn't want to go with me." Wendy walked over to me, bent down, and hugged me. "You're my family! Home is wherever you are!" I was moved by what she said. When it was time to leave, I did not have much luggage with me. Diana, on the other hand, had already filled two-horse carriages. Diana hugged my father and stepmother, crying, "Father, Mother, I'll miss you." My father and stepmother had tears welled up in their eyes as well. "Go. Go and have a great life. Be happy." My father bowed to Vincent. "King Vincent, please take good care of my daughter." Vincent bowed in return and replied, "I will, Father." Vincent led Wendy to the carriage. My father wiped away his tears and walked over to me. He said, "You will always be there for Diana. If I ever find out that you betray her, I will dig your mother's corpse out, and also kill you." I nodded, looking at his malicious gaze. I took Wendy into the other carriage behind Vincent and Diana's. From where I was, I could see Diana resting her head on Vincent's shoulders. I turned to see Ryan standing by my carriage. He was glaring at me. I looked at him with fear in my eyes. I knew Diana had sent him to keep an eye on me. I looked ahead once more to see Diana looking at me with an eerie smile on her face. I shuddered. Wendy noticed that something was off with me. "Jasmine, are you alright? Why are you shivering?" I shook my head. "It's fine. I just haven't sat in a carriage before." I turned to look at the castle getting further away from us. I did not know how to feel. Was I sad? Happy? I did not know! The journey to Houghton Castle from George Castle took about three days. Initially, the journey was still alright. It was mainly flat terrain. The first night was uneventful. On the second day, we were about to enter the zone of the other tribes. The journey was going to be a little tougher. These tribes relied on ambushing the weak and those who had been banished from the wolf tribes. That was why I would rather stay in the castle as a lowly servant than be banished because I would not survive there. Diana had never been on such a bumpy ride before, which was why she kept making everyone stop every so often. However, the skies were getting dark, and we were still in the middle of the tribal area. We had to get out immediately. If it were not for Diana constantly asking us to stop, we would have long gotten out of there. Night soon came. We could only stop and settle down for the night. We made a bonfire and gathered around it. Through the fire, I could see Vincent's darkened gaze. Was he angry? Diana was still saying to Vincent coquettishly, "My dear, you don't know how terrible the ride was today. I feel sick." Ryan, who was behind Diana, glared at them. As they say, it was always calm before the storm. Everything was so quiet at that moment. Surely something was about to happen. I said, "Should we try moving forward? It's a little creepy and scary here." I subconsciously went in closer to Wendy. She held my arm. Diana crossed her arms. "Jasmine, what the hell do you mean by that? Don't you know that I'm really tired from traveling? You're doing this on purpose. Also, Vincent is here. Who would dare do anything?" Diana looked at Vincent. After a long while, Vincent said, "Jasmine is right. It's way too quiet. We have to protect ourselves. When the time comes, give up your things to protect yourself." Diana's face was distorted in humiliation. Soon after, we heard rustling sounds coming from the bushes nearby. Then, we heard wolves howling. The tribal wolves were coming at us. Vincent was alerted and he suddenly changed into a black wolf. His guards turned into wolves as well, protecting Diana, me, and Wendy. In an instant, more than 20 wolves came out from the bushes and surrounded us. I hugged Wendy tightly and started trying to make a connection with my wolf, but it ignored me. The wolf looked at our carriages. "Boss, we've struck gold. There are quite a few horse carriages." When Diana heard that they were going to take her things, she said, "How dare you try to touch my things! You must be asking for death! I'll make you pay!" The wolf looked at Diana. "Boss, there are three ladies here too. One seems to be ferocious too." The alpha wolf slowly walked out. A heterochromian with a scar on his black eye. He looked at me with surprise. "I want the Heterochromian girl." I took a step back in fear. The wolves went in closer. Vincent snarled, "Don't you dare!" The wolves were not at all frightened by him. They attacked, leaving the three ladies in the corner. The alpha wolf turned back into a human and walked over to us. He stood in front of me. "A Heterochromian! You're a monster like me too! I like it!" Diana pulled Wendy forward. "You can't take Jasmine, but you can have her." Wendy was frightened, she was shuddering. The alpha wolf shoved Wendy and Diana aside, picked me up, and headed deeper into the woods. Diana yelled, "You ugly jerk! Don't touch Jasmine!" Vincent heard Diana yelling and came running toward me. The alpha wolf dragged me along, being forced toward the cliff by Vincent. Vincent roared at the alpha wolf. "Let her go!" Vincent was hurt. He was even bleeding. I shook my head. "Don't try to save me. It's not worth it." Vincent said, "Diana told me to save you. I must do it." Turns out, it was all because of Diana. The alpha wolf suddenly threw me to the side and turned into a wolf, attacking Vincent. Vincent could not fend for himself since he was hurt. He was bitten and fell to the ground.
