Chapter 40
A few minutes ago.
Charles saw Stella being surrounded by a bunch of people, and he dashed downstairs without a second thought.
But by the time he got there, the crowd had already dispersed. Only Edward remained, standing there like nothing happened.
Charles's expression went cold in an instant. He strode over to Edward and questioned him directly.
"Did you send those people?"
He had no solid proof, but knowing Edward, he didn't need it.
Of course it was him.
But Edward just put on an innocent face, shrugged, and said, "Charles, isn't blaming Stella enough? Now you're pinning this on me too? I was actually helping her out just now."
Charles scoffed, clearly not buying it. He knew exactly what kind of person Edward was.
There was no point arguing more. Edward pretending to be clueless wasn't going to work here.
He'd already had people sent after those instigators. The truth would be out soon—whether it was Edward or not.
"I'm warning you. Stay the hell away from Stella."
