Chapter 94
Stella woke up with a throbbing headache, fragments of memory crowding back into her mind. All she could think about was how Charles had forced himself on her like she had no say in it at all.
She'd told him—more than once—that this baby wasn't his. So why on earth was he still so worked up?
It never crossed her mind that he might be jealous. After all, how could there be jealousy without love?
Maybe it was because he just didn't buy it. Maybe he really believed the child was his.
The door creaked open. Old Mrs. Hart slowly walked in, leaning on her cane, followed by a couple of housekeepers.
"Stella, thank goodness you're awake!"
She rushed over to the bed, held Stella's hand gently, her voice full of relief. "You gave me such a scare, but thank heavens you and the baby are okay."
Seeing her, Stella's heart softened, her eyes turning red in an instant. "Grandma, I'm so sorry for making you worry."
