Chapter 13

Anger filled her chest, and in the next second, she dialed the number of her foster mother Zhou Sydney. When the phone was connected, the foster mother’s surprised and urgent voice came. "Anna Qin, I really underestimated you before, but I didn’t expect you to do it! Since you're now Mrs. Louie Chu, don’t forget me and your dad. Don’t forget the kindness we showed you!" Kindness? Anna Qin's face was cold, and his eyes showed irony. "By the way, remember to take the bride price back! Your dad needs your help." "What bride price?" "The Chu family married a wife, so a bride price must be given. They’ve given you a few thousand or several million, right? Don't play stupid with me." As she spoke, her tone became suspicious, "Are you going to keep all that money? I tell you, if you don't take the money back, we will immediately interrupt your grandma's treatment. Hearing Sydney's threat, Anna Qin felt completely cold. She understood that she was being blackmailed. "The Chu family almost sent me to the police station and all you care about is money?" She raised her tone. "You sent me to the Chu family's house, why didn't you ask them for money then? Why didn't you dare to speak then? Were you afraid that they’d find out? You knew you couldn’t take it if the Chu family were to come after you!" After being exposed by Anna Qin, Sidney Zhou was in a mess. She quickly regained her composure, "You can’t fool me. I read the news. If the Chu family found out you were posing as someone else, why would they keep you? I warn you, if you don't get us the money, your grandma will die!" After speaking, she angrily ended the call. Anna Qin held the phone, feeling a fire burning in her chest. She was angry, but had no way to vent it out. Although her foster father hasn't said a word until now, Anna believed that Sidney Zhou wasn't alone in blackmailing her! She was an orphan with no father and no mother, so her adoptive parents thought they’d just use her to get money. But what about grandma? They were her blood relatives! Why were they so cruel? Threatening her to end grandma's life if she didn’t comply, she wished she could have graduated and started working. She wished she’d had a chance to leave them and focused on caring for her grandmother. No one cared about Grandma, except for her. Anna suppressed the anger in his heart and calmed herself down. The most important thing now is to go to the hospital to confirm the condition of grandma. But Louie had asked her to wait here. Anna only hesitated for three seconds, then got up and walked out. For her grandma, she can't wait! She walked to the entrance of the hall. As soon as she got there, she backed off. There were reporters carrying cameras in the distance! Recalling how she’d been surrounded by reporters outside the gate of the Chu family's house, Anna didn't dare to act rashly. She paced back and forth in the hall, thinking about how to get out. It would be much easier if she could notify Louie Chu about these reporters, but he didn't leave her any contact information with her Now, she can only rely on herself to figure out a solution. Anna Qin stopped and took out her mobile phone. After a while, a courier from the same city delivered the goods to the door. After Anna Qin signed the receipt, she quickly turned and went back. The reporters squatted under the tree, waiting to take pictures of the new Mrs. Chu’s movements in the house. After waiting for most of the day, she was only photographed once. She had come out to take the package from the courier, and then a housekeeper went out and cleaned the house. She soon stopped work and left. Other than that, there was no movement. Anna Qin arrived outside the hospital, dressed as a house cleaner, her hair in braids, wearing a blue bonnet, a gray apron around her waist, and a pair of black cloth shoes on her feet. Using the maid uniform she’d ordered online, she successfully got past the reporters. Eventually, the reporters packed up their things and left, for the day. Tomorrow, they would surely be back. Anna Qin went straight to grandma's ward, but she didn't see anyone. "Miss Qin, didn't you ask to transfer the patient Anastacia Qin to the hospital? Your family requested it, don't you know?" Anna Qin frowned slightly, "When was she transferred?" "This morning." Anna Qin's heart suddenly chilled. It must have been Sidney Zhou and David Zhong! Grandma's condition was very delicate! It was difficult enough for her to move, let alone transfer to a different hospital! What were they trying to do? Anna Qin thanked the nurse and left in a hurry. She called Sydney Zhou. "Where is grandma?" On the other end of the phone, Sidney Zhou made no secret of it, and said proudly. "Well, I love my grandmother so much, I transferred her to a better hospital." Her voice suddenly became cold. "Anna Qin, if you want to see your grandma, be obedient and get us the money. You’ve managed to join the Chu family. Is it so difficult to ask for money? Remember, five million. Anything less than that won't work." "Bitch!" Sidney Zhou hung up. Anna Qin was so angry that she grasped the phone so tightly that her knuckles were white. Apart from anger, she was worried about grandma's safety. She forced herself to calm down. Grandma's condition was complicated. Even if her adoptive parents transferred her grandmother, they won't be able to go too far. They must still be in Haicheng!
