Time kept ticking by while Gary nearly crushed the divorce certificate in his hand. That was when Philip called.
"Mr. White, we've confirmed it. The divorce certificate you gave me is legitimate."
"That's impossible!" Gary's voice trembled with disbelief. "Don't you need my signature for a divorce? The one on the papers was forged. It shouldn't be legally binding! I never even—"
He stopped mid-sentence as a sudden flash of memory burst into his mind.
It was the morning of the court hearing. Quinley knelt in front of him once again. He had lost count of how many times it had been.
"Gary, if you insist on walking out that door to defend Luna, then sign this agreement. We're getting divorced," she said.
But back then, he had been in such a rush that he hadn't given it much thought. After all, in the past six months, she had mentioned divorce more than once.
