Chapter 11
Kayla stared at the design sketch, pencil hovering over the page as she revised the lines again and again. No matter how many adjustments she made, it still didn't feel right.
The assignment was a three-dimensional draping project that required incorporating local cultural elements. But truth be told, she had no real grasp of the country's traditional patterns.
"It might flow better if you use a symmetrical structure here." A warm, steady voice came from behind her.
She turned and blinked in surprise. Ned stood there, a stack of architecture books cradled in his arms.
"Ned?" she said, a little startled.
He offered a casual smile and pulled out the chair next to her. "Just passing by. You've been frowning at that paper for the past ten minutes."
He nodded toward her sketch. "Stuck?"
She pressed her lips together, then briefly explained the project requirements.
"I see," he said after a moment of thought. Then, he stood up. "Wait here."
