Scarlett walked over, gently turned the doorknob, and tiptoed inside. But she caught the faint rustle of paper and the sound of someone quickly shifting positions. She hurried over to the bed, immediately exasperated. Xavier lay flat on the bed, a thin blanket covering him, his eyes tightly shut. But the slight flutter of his eyelashes gave him away. He was faking sleep again! Scarlett let out a sigh and blew a stray strand of hair from her face as a mischievous glint sparkled in her eyes. "Oh, you're already asleep!" she said playfully. "Looks like you're sleeping soundly." She went on, "I heard that if you lift a sleeping person's arm, it won't fall back down." With that, she grabbed the sleeve of his loungewear and gently lifted his arm. She let go once it was directly perpendicular to his lying form. His arm stayed right where it was.
