17 – The Poison

The tension bites in her stomach and she feels nauseous and dizzy as she nears the entrance to the library. The door is actually located deeper in the entrance and she will not know whether one of the villains is awaiting her. The rest of them might have exited the van and could be following her, for all she knows, but she is afraid and does not want to look back. She made a wide turn in order to see anything suspicious so that she can turn away and run if someone is at the door waiting for her. She is immensely relieved when she sees the entrance empty and the door open. She is not feeling completely safe, because they could be somewhere inside. She enters quickly and anxiously looks around on her way to the reference section but sees no one. She descends down the steps and finds the library completely empty except for the old, grey-haired Linda, the librarian, at the counter. Linda looks up when she comes down and Kadin knows what she will be asking but she has her answers ready. E
