Lucas's throat twitched slightly, and the shard was already tinged with streaks of blood.
"Are you saying yes or no? Say it already!"
Maddox roared, completely throwing caution to the wind for Dylan.
But Elizabeth sat there calmly, head propped up with one hand, eyeing the whole thing with an indifferent tilt of her head.
"Your angle's off," she said lazily. "Shift the blade a bit to the left, that's where the artery is. Keep it where it is now, and he's just gonna bleed slowly. Won't kill him."
Lucas looked like a test subject on a lab table—helpless, at the mercy of others, even getting critiqued while at it.
He felt a wave of resentment, but he couldn't afford to show it. That sharp, cold edge against his neck was very real—Maddox was dead serious.
"Elizabeth! He's your father! Are you really just gonna stand there doing nothing?"
