There was no way Valerie was going to listen to Old Mr. Baker. Her heart had long been tied to Alexander.
Looks-wise, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone in all of Capitol City who could even come close to Alexander. And when it came to background? Patrick Baker didn't even come close. It was like comparing apples to spaceships—they weren't even on the same planet.
"This isn't fair! Totally not fair! Elizabeth just got here, and I've known Alexander for so much longer!"
Alexander raised an eyebrow, his voice indifferent. "Do I know you that well? I don't think we've really had much interaction, have we? Does that even count as knowing each other?"
Valerie froze, completely stunned. She'd always thought they'd basically grown up together. Turns out, Alexander didn't even acknowledge that.
"Even if we weren't childhood sweethearts, we grew up seeing each other! And now you're saying we're strangers?"
