Two people sat side by side on the couch, both with straight backs and graceful postures. One was Yelena, the other was someone who shouldn't have been here—Helen.
I stiffened and looked at her, silently asking why she was here.
Helen sat quietly, wearing a soft, serene smile. Yelena stared straight at me, her tightly pressed lips and clenched fists revealing her terrible mood.
I forced myself to speak and acknowledge them. "Mom."
Yelena let out a sudden laugh, sharp and unlike her usual gentle tone. "Don't call me Mom. I'm not your mom."
A cold sweat broke out on my forehead. I clutched my pounding chest and tried to play it off. "Mom, what are you saying?"
Yelena's gaze turned icy. "I know everything. You're unbelievable. You actually teamed up with the entire Wyatt family to lie to me. Helen—no, I should say Amber—you took Helen's identity and married in her place. What exactly are you after?"
