Samantha shrugged, eyes wide with mock innocence. "Nicholas needs me." Alexander's face was like stone, voice sharp and cold. "No one here needs you." Samantha arched a brow with a hint of amusement. "If I leave, and Nicholas has another meltdown, who's gonna handle it?" Alexander's gaze turned steely. "This isn't your playground." He almost blurted out, "Don't you dare leave me!" Some days, dealing with her made it hard to hold onto his sanity. Henrietta glanced between them, as if picking up on the shift in tension. Her voice was calm, but every word had weight. "Since Caitlin offered to take care of your brother, just let her. After all, don't forget—Nicholas ended up like this saving your life." That shut Alexander up.
