"Samantha Quin, who are you trying to gross out?" Henrietta Perkins slammed her wine glass down, her face instantly frosty.
"Didn’t you say you were too embarrassed to wear it? So how could it even disgust you?" Samantha raised an eyebrow, reaching out casually. "Actually, if you really hate it that much, just give it back. That thing cost me plenty back in the day when I had to count my pennies. I’ll keep it as a reminder of those ‘glorious’ years I spent suffering in this house."
Henrietta’s face darkened even more at the remark.
Samantha let out a cold smirk as she leisurely sipped her wine.

Alice Bennett, seeing the old lady at a loss for words, jumped in to shift gears. “Anyway, it’s the thought that counts, right? I’m just wondering what gift Second Young Madam picked out this year?”
Samantha didn’t even bother acknowledging her.
