Chapter 11
The doctors shook their heads gravely, unable to even meet Jerome's eyes.
"We're sorry, Mr. Cooper, Ms. Carline," one of them said. "Dami didn't make it… He's gone."
Madison staggered and collapsed into Jerome's arms, sobbing uncontrollably with grief.
Jerome's heart ached as he held her, but he heard her gnash her teeth and shout, "This is all Miranda's fault! If she hadn't deliberately gone into hiding, Dami would have survived! Rome, she killed our son!"
This wasn't the first time Jerome had heard Madison blame Miranda. Over the past few years, out of a sense of debt, he had quietly indulged her. But this time it made him particularly uncomfortable.
What made it worse was that one moment she had been sincerely remorseful, promising to apologize to Miranda for her mistakes. And the next moment, she had already flipped without warning.
Jerome couldn't help but wonder if this was really the Madison he thought he knew, or if he had never truly known her at all.
