On the way back, Miranda sat in silence, staring out the car window, her right hand trembling slightly.
She was once again pulled back into that painful past, reliving the humiliation, the torment, and the so-called justice that condemned her.
Dorian's large hand held her trembling wrist gently. "Did you swing the rod too hard just now? Is your wrist hurting again?"
He rubbed her hand softly, his voice careful and gentle. "I'm sorry, Miranda. I didn't tell you beforehand because I didn't want you to see him again. I know you want to take revenge, but I also know that doing this doesn't make you happy."
