"Jas…" Calvin's voice trembled, barely more than a whisper. His eyes shone with gathering tears as he reached slowly for her hand.
Jasmine took a sharp step back, putting a clear distance between them.
Calvin's eyes burned with guilt. He held her gaze, his voice rough with pleading. "Last night was all my fault. I'm so sorry. Punish me however you want. Just don't shut me out."
A faint smile touched Jasmine's lips. But it held no warmth, only cold, cutting scorn.
"You'll accept any punishment? Fine. Then just die!"
The words stabbed into Calvin like a knife to the heart. His face went rigid, every trace of hope and remorse freezing over instantly.
He remained rooted in place, stunned into silence by Jasmine's merciless expression.
