When Jasmine arrived at the orchestra the next day, she noticed that the others were friendlier toward her—they had stopped bullying her. Instead, they looked at her with compassion in their eyes.
She wondered what Olivia had told them.
At lunch, Joel finally told her what happened.
"Jasmine, you were abducted on the day of our performance, right?" he asked, clearly worried. "Did the abductors hurt you?"
Jasmine hadn't planned on telling the incident to anyone. After all, rumors were cruel. Even if nothing bad happened to her, others would have speculated what her abductors had done to her.
She felt annoyed at the hypocritical Olivia, but kept her emotions in check since Joel was around.
Calmly, she replied, "It's fine. The police got there quickly, and the abductors were captured."
Joel asked curiously, "Why did they abduct you?"
