"I don't really know how to explain it to you," Autumn replied.
Barry narrowed his eyes. "Or are you trying to tie my actions back to Damien somehow? Like, I'm just doing it to spite him?"
"...No, not really."
Even if Barry were trying to go against Damien, there would have to be a reason. People simply didn't do things others couldn't understand for no reason at all.
And given how close Barry and Damien were, if he were truly angry, landing two punches on Damien would be far more satisfying than going through all these roundabout moves.
At that thought, the faintly odd feeling in Autumn's heart disappeared. She didn't really know Barry well anyway, so even if he did something strange, it wouldn't be surprising.
"I'm sure you're busy, so I'll be leaving now," Autumn said mildly, then turned and walked away.
Barry watched her go. Even after the door closed, his gaze lingered on it for a long time. The hand that had been resting casually at his side slowly curled into a fist.
