Among all of Damien's friends, Barry knew Autumn the best. Besides, he loved gossip too, so it wasn't strange that he asked that.
However, Damien was irritated when the topic of divorce was raised, and he sneered coldly. "Do you think I'm like Autumn, some kind of clingy pest that won't let go?"
"Of course not. We all know how you feel about her," Barry said.
"Then why even ask?"
Barry poured Damien a drink and pressed it into his hand. Then, he clinked his own glass against it. The crisp sound rang out as Barry smiled, his eyes twinkling, "Naturally, I'm toasting to your escape from misery."
Damien had seen that grin countless times over the years. Yet, right now, he wanted nothing more than to throw his drink in Barry's face.
