Chapter 138
Theodore looked at how fragile Isabella seemed and paused for a moment before saying, "Nah, just been swamped with work lately."
He'd actually considered telling her the truth, but seeing how delicate she was after the elevator accident, he couldn't bring himself to do it. She'd already been through enough.
"Oh, I see... I thought maybe..." Isabella let out a breath of relief. "Sorry, Theo. I was just overthinking. You've got so much on your plate, and I went and made it all about me. You're not mad, right?"
"Of course not." Theodore gave her a soft look. "Stop stressing. Just focus on getting better, alright?"
He'd pretty much been by her side these past few days—well, mostly glued to his laptop, handling work stuff on the side.
"I'll be okay on my own," Isabella said gently. "There're doctors and nurses here. If anything comes up, I'll call them. Don't let me hold you back from work."
As much as she wanted him to stay with her, she didn't want to come off as clingy.
