Chapter 226
Theodore shot Marcus a look so sharp it made him sweat bullets. Only when Marcus was practically squirming under the pressure did Theodore finally look away.
Marcus didn't dare breathe easy until he was out of the CEO's office. Gossip about the boss? Man, he really wasn't paid enough to stomach that kind of risk.
Once Marcus left, Theodore picked up his phone, fingers hesitating over the screen. He really wanted to text Victoria, but just stared at the empty chatbox, not sure what to say.
She was probably working right now. When Victoria dived into her job, she was even more hardcore than he was—no way she had time to check her phone.
Thinking that, he throttled down his impulse and typed only two lines:
I'll pick you up after work.
Anything you feel like for dinner?
He knew she wouldn't reply anytime soon, yet he still sat there, eyes glued to the screen for way too long. When no message came through, he sighed and set the phone aside, forcing himself to focus on work.
