Chapter 25
There weren't many cars on the road at that hour, so Victoria made it to the restoration center pretty quickly.
Before she left, she'd already told Chloe to hold off on calling the cops for now.
By the time she got there, Chloe was standing alone at the entrance, the tip of her nose red from the cold wind.
"You're finally here."
Chloe ran up to her, clearly still shaken. "Are you sure we shouldn't call the police? The place is a mess inside."
She'd never dealt with anything like this before—no wonder she was spooked. Plus, with just the two of them here, charging in blindly seemed kind of reckless.
That's when Victoria realized she hadn't even asked why Chloe was there in the first place—she'd been too busy thinking about Natalie.
Chloe held up a key.
"I had dinner with a friend and only realized I forgot my keys when I got home. If I'd known this would happen, I would've just stayed over at her place."
