Chapter 284
On the other side of the room, Lydia Bond didn’t catch sight of Theodore Chambers or Victoria Ellis, but she did spot Alexander Ellis sitting all alone, looking kind of out of place. She adjusted her dress slightly, picked up a glass of red wine, and strolled toward him.
“Why are you hiding out here all by yourself?” Lydia asked casually as she sat down across from Alexander uninvited, pretending to be concerned.
Alexander frowned the moment she took the seat without asking. His dislike for her only deepened.
“Miss Bond, we’re not exactly close, are we?” he replied as politely as he could, hoping she'd take the hint and leave. He had only shown up for Victoria and didn’t care to mingle with anyone else.
Lydia, unfazed, smiled slightly. “So you remember me? Well, they say strangers become friends after meeting a couple of times. This is the second time we've met, so I’d say we’re well on our way.”
