Inside the police station, Victoria stared at the body in front of her—it was in such a horrific state she could barely make out a face. Honestly, this one was way worse than the last case.
"The coroner's done a preliminary exam. Here's the report," the station chief said, handing over the file. "We really didn't want to bother you again so soon, but we've run out of options."
Polite words, sure, but Victoria knew the drill. She already had her white gloves on, carefully checking different parts of the body.
"So, can you fix it this time?" Chief Warren sounded anxious, hands clasped tightly, clearly under pressure.
