The rain just kept coming down harder.
Listening to the loud splashing outside, Victoria couldn't help feeling the urge to check.
But a second later, she convinced herself—Theodore was a grown man, not stupid enough to stand out there soaking like a fool. If he couldn't take it, he'd leave.
"Victoria, maybe you should go out and see him," William said, watching him from the window. "He seems really set on seeing you. It's pouring out there—if he stays like that, something might really happen."
"Why should she care?" Hannah snapped. "They're divorced. He's not part of this family anymore. If he wants to act crazy in the rain, that's on him. No one told him to stay out there."
William didn't argue.
Hannah had come home upset, telling him what happened earlier—he was mad about it too. But still, he worried if something happened tonight, Victoria would regret it later.
"Dad, Mom, it's late. You should go rest," Victoria gently coaxed them into turning in.
