Boom!
A flash of lightning lit up the inky black sky, followed instantly by a deafening crack of thunder.
Camila jumped, heart pounding. She quickly backed away from the window. A glance at the wall clock told her it was past eleven-definitely bedtime.
But once she lay down, her mind couldn't stop spinning.
She kept thinking about Kendall. That phone call the other night, when Kendall cried to her-it felt off, especially in hindsight.
Something told her Kendall might've deliberately pushed her to go to the Imperial Crest Hotel...
No, she had to stop overthinking everything. Always being this paranoid wasn't healthy.
Shaking her head, she turned toward the wall and closed her eyes, forcing herself to calm down.
Slowly, her breathing evened out, and she drifted into a light sleep.
At midnight, Prescott finally returned, looking utterly exhausted.
He took a quick hot shower and headed straight for Camila's room.
