The anesthesia had worn off.
Camila Harrington's long lashes fluttered slightly. Just as she was about to open her eyes, she heard a raspy male voice—clearly talking on the phone—getting closer with each word.
Her heart skipped a beat. Instinctively, she kept her eyes shut and played dead.
