Lottie was finally stabilizing. After the IV drip, her cheeks were still pale, but at least she didn’t look ghostly like she had in the car.
She stayed super quiet the whole time. Even when the nurse was putting in the needle, she didn’t fuss or cry.
She just leaned on Prescott Ellington, quiet as a mouse, making it easy for the nurse to do her job. The contrast between her and the wailing kids nearby was like night and day.
But the calmer Lottie was, the worse Prescott felt.
