"Doesn't matter if you don’t want to talk. I won’t push you."
Prescott's gaze softened as he watched Camila quietly lower her head. There was a trace of tenderness and a flicker of pain in his deep-set eyes.
But Camila, with her head lowered, missed it entirely.
"Prescott, when did you get here? How’s Lottie? Is she okay? Has she settled into the estate? She hasn’t gotten sick again since I left, right? She…"
Her words poured out in a rush, her concern for her young daughter spilling over uncontrollably.
"Whoa, slow down," Prescott said, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "You’re asking so many questions at once—how am I supposed to keep up?"
