Chapter 413
April Ashcroft suddenly turned her head to look at Paul Hartwell, her eyes brimming with an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
Honestly, though Paul was her cousin, she had never been particularly close to him. He had left the family early on and gone his own way because of disagreements with the elders.
When she was a teenager, all she ever heard were the harsh criticisms of him from the older generation—calling him stubborn, ungrateful, and even a lost cause.
But she’d always felt that he hadn’t done anything wrong. He was just a proud person, someone who rarely bowed to anyone.
Now, so many years later, Paul still showed her such care and concern even though they’d barely spent much time together. It genuinely touched her heart.
April’s eyes felt warm as she lowered her gaze, trying to hide the emotions threatening to spill over.
Prescott Ellington gave a small nod. “Stay safe. I'll leave some people here to back you up.” Paul Hartwell watched as Prescott Ellington got into the car.
