"You say 'some time', but how long is that? A year, two years, or decades?"
Camila Harrington's tone turned cold, and the tears in her eyes were gone.
There, standing in front of him, she refused to let herself feel small anymore.
"Three months," Prescott Ellington said, fixing his gaze on her face. His voice was deep and steady. "I’ll give you an answer in three months."
"Okay." She responded flatly, not even sparing him a glance. "Got it. Can you let go of me now?"
"No," he said, arms tightening around her from behind. His sharp jaw pressed against her shoulder as he continued, "I messed up. I made you feel like this. Just give me three more months, please. I'm not indifferent to you; it's just that—"
"Just that you can’t forget Nina, right?" Her voice was quiet, almost muttering, as her gaze drifted to the window. "I know. She's the one you’ve always loved. I’m just a stand-in, aren’t I?"
