Elaine snapped out of her thoughts and glanced over to see that Marcus had somehow moved to sit beside her. He held out an orange to her, and Skylar's gaze immediately followed, practically glued to Marcus. She didn't dislike fruit, but she rarely ate oranges. She was about to decline politely when she noticed Skylar and Lexi both watching. Reluctantly, she took it. She ate a slice and thanked him. "Thanks, Dr. Middleton. It's sweet." Skylar let out a cold scoff, a look of pure mockery on his face. Lexi smirked in their direction, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "Mr. Middleton and Ms. Shelton seem so close. You must've known each other for ages, huh? My brother never peels oranges for me. I'm honestly a little jealous!" Marcus gave her a puzzled look. "I just heard Ms. Scott call Ms. Shelton 'Thea,' so I figured you two must know each other." Lexi's smile froze. Awkwardness flickered across her face before she stammered, "I—I mistook her for someone else. I just remembered I've m
